Hearing the term “investment” used when looking for wedding photography pricing throws some people off. Why not just say price? Because this is an investment in your memories, an investment in your future. Great wedding photos transport you back to those precious moments of your day. Are your kids or grandkids really going to search your old instagram account hunting those photos down? No, so that is why I offer print releases and heirloom albums. When you’re my client, I want to have you walk away married, joyful, and with beautiful images AND memories you will cherish for a lifetime.
Want to know why I’m worth the investment? I’ve been kicking butt at wedding photography for OVER a decade and I use those years and years of experience to shape YOUR experience as a client. I try to bring my Type A organizational skills, true love of weddings, and genuine excitement for your day together in a way where I can shoulder your stress, make you laugh, and grab you a stiff drink (especially when your day goes haywire and you think you should have just eloped). You aren’t just investing in images, you are investing in a beautiful, fun filled experience that results in a gallery filled of moments, tears, and laughter with the people you love.
Beautiful photos are the goal but if you don’t get to enjoy your day as well, is it worth it? I want to be here to guide you through the insanity that is planning a wedding, and providing you with the resources you need to make your wedding day everything you dreamed of. All while taking some “break the internet with awesomeness” photos of your day. Sound like something you're into?
To ensure the best possible experience for my clients, I offer custom packages for every inquiry I receive based on my contact form (why would you want to be stuck with the same packages everyone gets when your wedding is a unique event?!). That being said, my basic coverage for 2021 and beyond starts at $4750 and all packages include hourly coverage, two photographers, and an engagement session.
Getting to know you is a BIG part of the process. I give couples the option to book via email, chat with me on the phone, or even have an in person meeting if they're local to Pittsburgh. I am one of the vendors you spend the MOST one on one time with, so I want you to like me, like my work, and like the whole experience that I give all of my clients!
I don't want couples to feel PRESSURE. So when it comes to booking, I hold your date for one week after we chat, so you can make a fully informed leap into working with me.. That being said, I do book quickly, so don't wait too long!
I ALWAYS love for my clients to invest in an engagement session. It's a great time to not just get some extra photos, but to feel what works and what doesn't. You get to see me at my weirdest, and I get to see how you are in front of the camera. It's not mandatory, but it results in your wedding photos being extra awesome.
When the party is over, the flowers are wilted, and the cake is long gone, all you have left is the feelings and the memories. I'm the person you trust to capture those and save them so you can hold on to them forever. So much of our relationship is based on trust and I am always honored to be trusted with the memories you will hand down for generations.
While I primarily focus on weddings, engagements, and boudoir, my services go way beyond that. I also offer maternity sessions, product photography, and wedding vendor focused branding sessions. I'm always interested in new projects and getting to flex my creative muscles, don't hesitate to reach out if you think I may be a good fit for your project!
I don't even know where to start honestly. Dawn was the best decision we made throughout our entire planning process. Hands down. From day one she was extremely responsive, excited, professional and cared about what we really wanted. She communicated with us throughout the entire planning process and offered awesome advice, vendor recommendations, etc. Photography was extremely important to me and she absolutely nailed it. We did an engagement shoot which was phenomenal, and I also did a boudoir shoot with her which was an awesome experience. All of her photos came out sooo incredibly fast and they were beyond our expectations. On our wedding day, she felt like a side kick. She made me feel calm by knowing exactly what needed to be done and when. She would literally jump through fire to get the perfect shot and I honestly couldn't recommend her more. Our wedding photos were BEYOND stunning and everything we ever wanted. We have gotten so many compliments on our photos it's insane and she captured the little moments and quirks that made our day special. Also, her detail shots are the best I've ever seen. If you invest in anything for your big day, invest in photography, specifically, Dawn. She will absolutely blow you away.
I am just as excited for your wedding as you are. Genuinely. This is my passion, my only interest, I am all weddings all the time. I want to be a great resource. Take ten years of photography experience, plus way too much caffeine, I’m a total wedding photography dynamo. I will do anything in my power to make sure you have magazine worthy, one of a kind, break the internet photos. Because you deserve something magical and unique to who you are as a couple.
I am all about respecting your privacy. While I might be sad I can’t break the internet with your magical photos, I want you to be happy and safe and comfortable. I’ve been shooting weddings for ten years, I have buttloads of weddings I can share and not including your images won’t break my business, I am more than happy to keep your images off my website/social media if you prefer.
I am all about a rain plan. I watch the weather more than I check my email (which is A LOT), so I take that into consideration when location scouting and between umbrellas and back up plans, I’ve got it covered
I am all about the art, but while I’d love for my day to be nothing but fun, I do take those family shots that the more conservative types love. I will always try to talk my clients into altar shots because even though they’re the most “blah” part of the day, they’ll make Grandma super happy.
This is why I always suggest an engagement session. In addition to getting some cute photos of the two of you, it’s a time when I get to see how you do in front of the camera and try to see what works and what doesn’t with posing. It’s less pressure than the actual wedding day and it’s a great way for us to get to know each other, being comfortable with me is a big part of being comfortable in front of the camera.
Dawn Derbyshire Photography loves love.
I strive to create an inclusive, welcoming space for my employees, vendors I work with, AND my clients of all races, religions, sexual orientations and identities. All of my clients (and their love stories) deserve respect, are cherished, and are valued by me and my business. You are welcome in my business, my life, and my heart.
