Tell me about the proposal!
Andrew and I flew out to Colorado to visit our friends from North Dakota that had moved to CO. I knew he was going to propose that weekend. He’s not the best with surprises LOL. The morning of the proposal we were going to Este’s Park to hike. When he came down the stairs, I asked him if that is was he was wearing to propose in. We went hiking and he was behind me. I definitely saw the box in his shorts, but thought I was maybe losing it. My friend Megan asked if we wanted a picture. After the photo, he began shuffling with his hands. I turned around and he said “Hey Cierra. Will you marry me?” I think I told him to shut up then said omg. It was so Andrew and very perfect.
How did you two meet?
Clarion University of PA! We met Freshman year, but Andrew was a wild animal and I was too busy pledging ZTA. Our Sophomore year, he came to my apartment often with his roommates. We were just friends until he drank too much American Honey one night while he was in Erie visiting a friend at Gannon and confessed his love for me. When he apologized the next day for the drunk text, I said “It’s fine you don’t like girls with short hair.” He told me I rock it and I texted him that week out of the blue. We went to a movie that Friday. He got super hurt the following Tuesday at football practice. When he got back to school, we started hanging out. The rest is history! I told my mom that Christmas break I was going to marry him.
What is some advice you’d give to a newly engaged couple about the whole wedding planning process?
DO.WHAT.YOU.WANT.TO.DO. Issue with that though is it’s so much easier said than done! Ultimately though it’s about the two of you and NO ONE ELSE. Don’t let the opinions of others ruin this special time. I cared way too much what others thought and spent so much time trying to please others when it came to our decisions. It’s the couples day. No one else!
