We met in our church handbell choir when we were in high school. We stood next to each other every practice and got to know each other. We became friends and I eventually convinced her to go out on a date with me. We’ve been together ever since, for 8 years now.
Tell me about the proposal!
Well I proposed on the morning of our 7 year anniversary. Annie and I had talked for a while about getting married so she new it was coming; she jokingly (but not totally jokingly) said she needed a ring before our 7 year anniversary. So I decided to have some fun with it and surprise her. I told her I couldn’t take our anniversary off or come home early to cook because I had important meetings at work, I set the plan up to make her favorite meal the night before and told her I would work from home. We had dinner and went to the movie theater where we had our first date; we can’t remember the movie but I didn’t propose at any point that evening. Annie had gone to her Gram’s that evening, something she does 4 nights a week, and in the morning I surprised her. I told her I had a meeting that I need to go in early for and asked if she could make sure I was up and got moving early enough. So she woke up extra early and drove the whole way home just to “make sure I got to work on time.” When she walked in, I had made waffles with fresh fruit for her which is her favorite breakfast. I proposed then which turned her mood from terrible and annoyed at me right around. I also had lied about work and took the day off to spend it with her.
What inspired your vision for your wedding day? Do you have a theme or color palette? How do you envision your ideal wedding day?
We saw a lot of things we liked on Pinterest and took what we liked. We decided on kind of a slightly rustic feel with wood because we both love the look of wood grain. The color palette is Mahogany (red burgundy) and navy blue with ivory. The guys are in blue suits and the girls are in the Mahogany. We just want our day to be a big, laid back party as a celebration of our love.
What is the most anticipated moment of your wedding day? If you could only choose one photo to walk away from your wedding day with, what would it be?
Our most anticipated moment is when we’re announced in the church as husband and wife. Annie really wants the photo of the announcement/kiss and I really want a photo in the evening around sun down on the patio at the Edgewood club.
