We met at a mutual friend’s house during a St. Patrick’s Day party four years ago. We were instantly attracted to one another and spent the evening poking fun at one another while sharing sips from a bottle of notably non-Irish Jack Daniels Whiskey. It took a few weeks of texting back and forth before we agreed to meet up at Nico’s–a dive bar in Bloomfield.
Tell me about the proposal!
We took a trip to Austin, Texas in April 2018 for Levitation Music Festival—a city and festival we had always wanted to see together. On a sun-filled Texas afternoon upon arriving at our AirBnB, we took a minute to enjoy the patio surrounded by cacti and drink the cervezas provided by our host. As the perfect start to our trip, Matt got down on one knee and romantically proposed.
What was your favorite part of wedding planning?
Our favorite parts of wedding planning was going around Pittsburgh to thrift stores and antique malls collecting vintage mid-century modern glassware for our centerpieces and compiling music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception.
What is the most anticipated moment of your wedding day? If you could only choose one photo to walk away from your wedding day with, what would it be?
Our first look–getting a moment alone and seeing each other before the ceremony and craziness of the reception.
What inspired your vision for your wedding day? Do you have a theme or color palette? How do you envision your ideal wedding day?
Our wedding is inspired by vintage, eclectic, romantic, and bohemian details. Decor will include vintage runners and rugs, mismatched brown wooden chairs, peacock chairs, vintage amber-colored glassware for cacti planters and loose stems in vases/decanters as our centerpieces. Our color palette is composed of neutrals, earth tones, dusty greenery, pops of brighter colors: coral, pink, orange, peach, caramel, burgundy. https://www.pinterest.com/juliacowher/wedding/ I’ve emailed some screenshots that I’ve sent to our florist greenSinner and Old Souls Vintage to give a better feel for our inspiration/vision.
