We met online. Our initial meeting was in a Starbucks and there were instant sparks over realizing we had the same taste in music when Brette showed me his spotify playlist. We both had plans for the next night (Friday) and we both cancelled our plans with friends in order to go out on our first official date! We went to Mad Mex where we go now each and every month on the 13th (our anniversary date of our first real date and now our wedding anniversary). We spent the rest of the weekend together falling deeper and deeper for each other! The rest is history!
Tell me about the proposal!
I am not a high maintenance girl, which Brette knows, so the proposal was perfect! He also knows my obsession with ice cream (its going to be the dessert at the wedding). It was a typical/normal night, we were happy and in love just relaxing. He suggested we go to Millie’s, our usual ice cream spot that we very frequently go to. He was acting a bit weird/excited so I thought something was going on, I suspected he was going to propose – to the point that on a note in my phone I typed “I think you’re going to propose, and I can’t wait to say yes”. We got our ice cream and went to one of the tables under the trees with the hanging lights. He was acting so nervous and moving around a bunch, to the point it was making our dog nervous and she got herself tangled – so as I bent down to turned around to untangle our dog, he got down on one knee and when I turned back around to face him he was proposing! It couldn’t have been more perfect! Just the two of us over our favorite ice cream spot with our dog!
What inspired your vision for your wedding day?
We both have, what we would like to think, as a classic and timeless type of style and taste as well as type of love. We feel as though that clearly comes through in the venue we selected, The Grand Hall at The Priory, as well as our crisp black and white with a dash of wine red pop of color scheme – very classic and romantic.
What is the most anticipated moment of your wedding day?
The actual ceremony – we are most excited to be married and finally get to call each other husband and wife!
What’s most important to you about your wedding?
Besides the actual “getting married” we really want everyone to have a great time and enjoy themselves. The brides parents have put so much time and effort into the planning of this wedding, we want them to be proud of the day and know how much we appreciate all the hard work they put in to making it a dream come true for the bride and groom.
What was your favorite part of wedding planning?
Throughout all of wedding planning we would have to say that the best part was seeing how all of our loved ones really came together to celebrate and support us. The brides parents threw a surprise engagement party which was a total shock and so kind of them! They have played a completely active role in the entire process of wedding planning which has been a huge help and very appreciated. Coming to meetings with us, tastings, giving advice and opinions all along the way. They also threw an extremely beautiful and classy Bridal Shower which couldn’t have been more elegant and perfect! Also for the bride, getting the dress was a lot of fun and created some special moments between the mother of the bride and bridal party.
